Organizing Instructional Time to Include Navigational Strategies
We all know that integrating technology into the curriculum is something that comes highly recommended, but is a requirement of all teachers. However, with all the focus on test preparation and students’ passing the standardized tests, how can we really fit navigational strategies into our instructional time, especially with our overcrowded classrooms. According to Leu, Leu, and Coiro, taking small groups at a time and teaching the students how to navigate the internet will help all students . Teaching each group a different strategy and allowing them to show other students from another group allows the teacher to effectively include these strategies into their instructional time. It also gives all the students an opportunity to correctly learn all the strategies and techniques they need to properly use the computer.

Effective Internet Management
Integrating the internet into a jam packed curriculum is definitely a challenge. Many students are allowed to access the internet as a reward or as free time and are not being properly monitored by their teachers. The use of the internet should not be a choice for a few students, but for all students and the students should be closely monitored or have a planned activity to complete. Allowing students to access the internet freely give students the impression that the internet is just a “recreation activity”, when it is actually a part of the curriculum. All students should be allowed to access the internet and learn how to properly navigate the sties to locate information for completion of assigned work. This will allow the teacher an opportunity to properly implement the use of the internet into their curriculum. It will also ensure that students will have equal access to the internet. One way this is done is by creating a schedule and have projects that the students can complete using the internet. This also ensures that all students receive proper internet training, even if the teacher has to schedule a 40 or 50 minute period in the school computer lab.

Web Quest a Great Introduction to the Internet
As a teacher I am often concerned about my students using the internet, however all students are required to be exposed to the technology. A great way to effectively incorporate the internet into your classroom is by using web quests. Web quest provide the students with the opportunity to complete an inquiry project on the internet. The web quest sets the stage for the activity, catching their attention and providing background information. The web quest tells what the students are required to do and the product(s) they are expected to produce. They are given step by step details to complete the project. They are also provided with a rubric to evaluate their product and an opportunity to reflect on the process. This is a good way to keep the students focused and allow them an opportunity to use the internet.
